The short answer
A multi-branch gym needs software where every screen is branch-aware: switch branch and every list, total and report changes; each branch keeps its own settings, staff, expenses and profit; and the owner still sees the whole business. Torzil is built this way - one login, branch switching, branch-specific member-ID prefixes, holidays and staff, branch expenses and P&L, unique-member attendance across branches, a multi-location member app and centralised analytics - which makes it a strong choice for multi-branch gyms and gym chains.
Why single-branch software breaks at branch two
Single-gym software often adds a “branch” field later. The symptoms are familiar: reports that cannot separate branches, member IDs that clash, staff who can see every branch’s data, expenses that cannot be attributed, and attendance that double-counts members who train at two locations. Each is manageable alone; together they mean the owner cannot answer the basic question - which branch makes money?
The multi-branch checklist
| Requirement | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| One login, branch switching | Manage without logging in and out |
| Branch-aware lists and reports | Every number filterable by branch |
| Branch settings | Address, member-ID prefix, holidays, week-offs |
| Branch staff and permissions | Staff see only what they should |
| Branch expenses and P&L | Profit per location, not just revenue |
| Unique-member attendance | No double-counting across branches |
| Multi-location member app | Members switch branch in one app |
| Branch-targeted offers | Promotions per location |
| Branch-level stock | Retail per location |
| Centralised analytics | Compare branches side by side |
| New-branch onboarding | Migration for acquired or new branches |
How Torzil measures up
| Requirement | Torzil |
|---|---|
| One login, branch switching | ✅ Lists, totals and reports adapt |
| Branch settings | ✅ Address, member-ID prefix, holidays, staff assignments |
| Branch staff and permissions | ✅ Role-based permissions, branch assignments |
| Branch expenses and P&L | ✅ Expenses with branch tags; net profit per branch |
| Unique-member attendance | ✅ Counted once across branches |
| Multi-location member app | ✅ Location switcher |
| Branch-targeted offers | ✅ Offers with branch targeting |
| Branch-level stock | ✅ POS rings up per branch |
| Centralised analytics | ✅ Branch comparison and consolidated view |
| New-branch onboarding | ✅ Free data migration |
Limitation to know: a single POS sale cannot draw stock from two branches - sales ring up against one branch at a time.
What a multi-branch owner’s week looks like in Torzil
- Monday: compare last week’s revenue, net profit and attendance across branches on one screen.
- Tuesday: approve leave for a trainer who covers two branches; payroll reflects it automatically.
- Wednesday: run a branch-targeted offer at the branch with the weakest renewals.
- Friday: check low-stock alerts per branch and raise purchase orders.
- Month end: export branch-level payments, GST and expense reports for the CA.
Gym chains and franchises
If you own every branch, multi-branch software is enough. If branches are franchised, you also need franchisor/franchisee separation - see best gym franchise management software and gym franchise software.
