Classes are a different business model
A gym floor sells access. A class sells a seat at a time - limited, perishable, and worth more when it is full. That changes what software has to do: it must know capacity, stop overbooking, fill cancellations from a waitlist, take payment per seat or per pack, and record who actually came. Software built only for monthly memberships handles none of that well, which is why studios have historically used separate booking tools.
Torzil handles classes inside the same platform as memberships and billing.
Scheduling
| Capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Calendar scheduling | Classes on a calendar per branch |
| Capacity | Maximum seats per class; no overbooking |
| Booking cut-offs | Booking closes a set time before start |
| Waiting lists | Members join a waitlist when the class is full |
| Instructors | Each class has an assigned instructor |
| Staff App scheduling | Classes can be scheduled from the gym floor |
Booking and payment models
- Credits - members hold a credit balance and spend credits per class.
- Session packs - a 10-class pack is consumed as the member books and attends.
- Pay-per-class - drop-ins pay for a single class online through Razorpay.
The class packs vs monthly memberships guide explains which model suits which format.
Online and hybrid classes
Torzil automatically creates Google Meet links for online classes. Members launch the video session from the app at class time - useful for hybrid yoga and pilates studios, for travelling members, and for keeping classes running when the studio is closed.
Attendance that matches the booking
QR attendance for classes records who turned up, so no-shows are visible, credits and packs are consumed correctly, and instructors can see real attendance rather than bookings. See QR attendance.
Who uses class booking
Yoga, pilates, Zumba and dance studios; CrossFit, HIIT and functional training boxes; boxing and MMA gyms; and traditional gyms running group classes alongside the floor. The studio management guide covers studio-specific workflows.
Classes without a separate booking tool
Torzil gives classes the capabilities studios need - capacity, cut-offs, waitlists, instructors, credits, session packs, pay-per-class, Google Meet and QR attendance - without a separate booking tool, so class revenue, memberships, GST invoices and reports stay in one system.
